WIESBADEN (dpa-AFX) – The rise in producer prices for agricultural products in Germany weakened at the beginning of the new year for the fourth month in a row. In January 2023, producer prices for agricultural products were 25.4 percent higher than a year earlier, as the Federal Statistical Office announced on Monday. In December, prices had risen by almost 30 percent compared to the same month last year, and by around 32 percent in November. Compared to December 2022, prices fell by 1.9 percent in January.
The producer prices are the selling prices of the producers. They affect consumer prices. The producer prices for agricultural products had risen sharply because of the Ukraine war, because the prices for energy and raw materials rose significantly./ben/DP/mis
