Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar commented on the report about the situation in Soledar.
In her Telegram, she reminded that it is forbidden to publicly report information about the movement of Ukrainian troops outside of official sources.
“If someone publishes unauthorized information about where our troops went, where they moved from, where they are physically located – this works against the enemy and harms our defenders,” – stated government official
Malyar pointed out that only authorized persons of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff have the right to publish information about the actions of the Armed Forces.

She also reminded that in the morning briefing on January 15, the General Staff reported that attacks had been repulsed, including near Soledar, the day before, and in the evening briefing – about shelling of the city.
“To put it simply, there are ongoing battles. Everything else is unverified information, unauthorized and without knowledge of the general picture of the front (because it is a state secret),” Malyar added.
In addition, according to the deputy minister, information is made public taking into account both the operational situation and military plans.
“Civilians do not know these plans and therefore do not understand the context in which the fragments of information that have become known to them are presented. How do they harm our defense,” she concluded.
