DÜSSELDORF/BONN (dpa-AFX) – After a tough argument, Deutsche Post and the Verdi union have agreed on a new collective agreement. An impending longer strike should thus have been averted. After a marathon of negotiations, the logistics group and Verdi agreed on a new collective agreement for the 160,000 employees affected.
Accordingly, the employees will receive a special payment to compensate for inflation totaling 3,000 euros net over 15 months. Of this, 1020 euros are to be paid in April, the rest distributed monthly until March 2024. From April 1, 2024, all employees will then receive 340 euros more per month. According to the Post, this means an average wage increase of 11.5 percent. The term of the new collective agreement is 24 months in total.
